Mt Yong Yap, 7110 ft, is the sixth highest mountain in Peninsular, one of the revered 7 thousanders in Peninsular Malaysia. This group of Peninsular Malaysia's seven highest peaks is called G7. It comprises of Mt Tahan (7,174 ft. 2190m), Gunung Korbu (7,162 ft. 2183m), Gunung Yong Belar (7,156 ft. 2181m), Gunung Gayong (7,129 ft. 2173m), Gunung Chamah (7,212 ft. 2171m), Gunung Yong Yap (7,110 ft. 2168m) and Gunung Ulu Sepat (7,089 ft. 2158m). Conquering the G7 is a major accomplishment among Malaysian mountaineers.
"Yong" means "Mountain" in orang asli language, and "Yap" was the name of a communist during old day. Mt Yong Yap is usually the last mountains to be climbed by people who would like to complete their G7 feat or Penamatan G7 in BM.
